RISK MANAGEMENT OF RUNNING AND TRIATHLON EVENTS

We invite all organizers of RUNNING EVENTS
(half-marathon, marathon, mountain running and survival) and TRIATHLONS
to participate in the project realized by the international consortium created by
Poznan University of Economics and Business, Cracow University of Economics,
Reykjavik University, as well as the consulting
and technological company PBSG SA.

  • Risk assessment in reference to sports events will allow for making adequate decisions in the face of threats and reducing them to the acceptable risk level; it will also enable taking advantage of opportunities related to specific uncertainty factors in a conscious way.

  • In each study there are a couple of organizers’ representatives, who conduct risk assessment individually (as separate logins) by evaluating factors defined in the reference base. The results of risk assessment are averaged out.

  • With the consent of the study’s participant we inform about the cooperation and contribution to the project, which simultaneously promotes the given sports event and the very fact of risk management.

  • The study’s participant also receive the report, which inter alia includes the risk assessment results (grouped into acceptable, conditionally acceptable, acceptable and residual risk), the reference to risk assessment of other studies taking account of the context of specific sports events.

For US the study’s results will serve research purposes only.

For YOU the risk assessment result is the perfect input data for efficient and safe sports event management.

The data are made anonymous – under no circumstance will they be presented publically in a way that allows the identification of the results in reference to a specific event (organizer).

BENEFITS

The idea and conception of the study address the threats related to the organization and participation in running events and triathlons. Moreover, they also reflect the modern methods for project management, as well as the acquisition of knowledge and information adequate to the actions supporting the efficiency of management. It is also the formal and objective evidence of caring for the participants’ safety.

 CHARACTERISTIC OF THE STUDY

The present study is a part of the project related to
RISK MANAGEMENT OF RUNNING AND TRIATHLON EVENTS
(half-marathon, marathon, mountain running, survival and triathlon)

THE GOAL OF THE STUDY – risk assessment for the organization and participation in sports events (different runs and triathlons).

RISK ASSESSMENT FOR SPORTS EVENT ORGANIZERS (half-marathon, marathon, mountain running, survival ) and triathlons (sprint - IM distances).

RISK ASSESMMENT FOR PARTICIPATION – conducted by amateur runners and triathloners.

The study relates to events in Poland and abroad.

Risk assessment is conducted on the basis of RISK FACTORS, which have been defined by the team of experts – researchers, organizers and participants
of sport events. The reference base of risks is continuously developed.

The risk assessment refers to:

  • half-marathons (21,95 km),
  • marathons (42,195 km),
  • mountain runs,
  • survivals,
  • triathlons (olympic distances, ¼ IM, ½ IM, IM),

THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE STUDY – organizers (representatives of organization teams) and participants in running and triathlon events.

The project and study are realized with the use of the e-risk software in accordance with the methodology of ISO 31000.
